Boone County Special Services opened in September of 1972. There were 5 clients and 2 staff members. The first location was on South Pine in Harrison which was an office space for the bus garage. The town of Harrison gave the support and encouragement and by November 1974 there were 20 clients and 6 staff in the new location. Fama Watts who founded Boone County Special Services wanted somewhere that could meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. The Adult Work Center is currently located at 309 Industrial Park Road, Harrison, Arkansas.
Boone County Special Services is made up of 14 board member's, Director, Trish Villines, and associated with Pathfinder, Inc. To assure that adults with disabilities lead normal lives and contribute to their community. We also want to continue to search for and initiate solutions to make the lives of individuals with disabilities more complete. All of our staff members are well trained and highly skilled in what they do. Our goal is to enrich the lives of the people we serve.
